Parupu Rasam

Rasam is a soup that can be taken in a bowl or with rice it is a wonderful medicine for cold relief.


 Serving for 4 

Ingredients

Tamarind                small ball 
Tomato                   1no
Garlic                       5 nos
Toor   dal                 5 tsp
Turmeric                 A pinch
Sambhar powder   1/4 tsp 
Mustard                  1 tsp
Jeera                      1 tsp
Coriander seeds     1 tsp
Pepper corns          1 tsp
Curry leaves           few
Corrinder leaves     few
Red chili                   3 nos
Salt                          1 1/2 tsp
Jaggery                    little
Oil                             3 tsp
Water                       2 cups
Asafoetida.

To fry and  grind
Jeera                      
Coriander seeds    
Pepper corns       


For Seasoning
 

Jeera
Mustard
Curry leaves 
Corrinder leaves      
 
Method      

  • Pressure cook the Toor dal with  turmeric and Asafoetida.
  • Heat oil in a  pan add mustard,  jeera, garlic, red chili, sambhar powder ,tomato   and grounded powder.
  • Add tamarind juice and cook for a while
  • Add presure cooked toordall.
  • When the gravy thickens add Jaggery,asafoetida and salt. 
  • Garnish with corriander leaves and curry leaves
